About the program

The University of New England in collaboration with Angus Australia and Meat and Livestock Australia are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join the Genetics Group at the University of New England in Armidale, Australia. This project will investigate the application of computer vision to develop novel, objective measures of structural soundness in beef cattle.

Eligibility criteria

Must hold a relevant Honors or Master’s degree in disciplines such as animal science, computer science, biomechanics, or related fields
Required to enroll as a full-time, on-campus student
Must not receive another stipend or scholarship
Must meet UNE’s English proficiency standards

Benefits

For selected individual:

Full tuition fee coverage via the RTP Fee Offset
Annual living stipend: AU$36,862 per year for full-time students
Overseas Student Health Cover
Possible research allowances (e.g., thesis, conference travel)
Up to 3.5 years full-time PhD support
